Another Harvest Festival is upon us, time seems to fly so quickly, doesn't it? This year promises treats and scares along with the goodies :3 As usual, this guide will be updated constantly while new information is found out, so be sure to check in every so often if you need a helping hand =D Candy timmmmmmeeeeeee!!!
The merchants in the 3 cities have dressed up to help celebrate the festival into mob constumes, along with new Balloon Balloons (>>) placed randomly throughout the cities. There are also undead mobs to roam the cities as well.
Grab some sweets and find a npc dressed up in a costume, and trade it to them. You will, by chance, get one of the Heads or Staves. Any sweets will work, as long as they can be found in the Sweets section of the Auction House. Trading the same treat over and over will get you more items, but the chance is slim. Trading different sweets will give you a greater chance at getting one of these items. (Only 3 items attainable a Vana Day for each city?)
Note: You can get items again if they are in NPC storage
Like above, you trade sweets to costumed npcs. If you have all the Heads and Staves already, you will have the chance to be costumed into a Ghost, Spector (Shade), Skeleton, Wolf, Yagudo, Orc, Quadav, or Goblin. You can also get a costume if you dont have all the items, but its only a chance. For a partial list of which NPC gives what Costume, read further down. The costume will last only a few minutes and you cannot target npcs/doors. Zoning with them on will remove the costume. (A single NPC will only give you one costume with one type of treat every Vana Day?)
Every city has a couple of some Red Balloon Balloons. Moogles are by one of the Balloons, telling you a little about how to get the Pitchfork. Basically, you have to grab a partner in a party, get the right costume combo for the zone, then stand underneath the correct Balloon to obtain your NQ Pitchfork.
Obtain and equip your Pitchfork, then head to nation that you and your partner have not gotten the Pitchfork. Trade a sweet to the Roaming Costumed NPC that gives your nation's corresponding Beastmen costume. You and your partner must become a Goblin, then you can go to the appropriate Balloon to get your Pitchfork +1. It is also possible to get the Pitchfork +1 in the zones without the roaming mobs, but the appropriate NPCs that give the goblin costumes have not been fully compiled yet.
Example: A Windustian Taru and his Bastok Hume buddy get their NQ Pitchfork in Windurst and Bastok, respectively. They head to Sand'Oria and the Windurst Taru trades the Trick Shade and the Bastokan Hume trades the Trick Specter to get the Goblin Costume. Then, while in the costume, they run over to the (D-9) Balloon and obtain their Pitchfork +1s.
Note: Windurst's Beastman=Yagudo; Bastok's Beastman=Quadav; Sand'Oria's Beastman=Orc
