if you reread, its one type of each candy every vana day, you can indeed get more than 1 prize a day, and its random if you get it or not (only if you dont have it), equiping doesnt influence anything

I assure you, if there's a limit it's soft. I've got 7/8 of my items in one 90-minute session with one type of item (Garlic Crackers).
Edit: Got my last item (Treat Staff II) just as my session reached the 2-hour step. The Vana'diel day had NOT just changed. It was about 15:00 when I got it and I'd already got some Harvest prizes that game day.

Stupid jerks keep giving me costumes only.
{Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass}
Edit. Got Pumpkin Head II.
Did 5 trades in 1 day, just need a different sweet to trade them. Reward seems random from NPC. Got costume from one and then the head from him on a different trade.

Ok seems that its exactly the same way it works as last year except you dont keep getting costumes. Its only 1 per type per day. This makes macro spam of treats for items easier. I kept trading and slowly but surely get items. Last year i spend a few mil to get the -50 enmity hat and never got. Hopefully this year i get it lol. No idea on pitchfork nor seen anyone with

Youkai: It doesn't seem to matter.
Perhaps using another sweet on the same day after getting an item/costume will increase your chances of getting another item/costume, but sticking with the same sweet all the time doesn't make it impossible.

From my own observations I came up with this
1) Bomb lanterns color vaires by city. No purpose other then looking purty
2) random NPCs dressed as undead run around. Merchants are also dressed up
3) trade a food in the "Sweets" food catagory to any NPC dressed up. For the cheapest sweet go to the contry first in conquest and buy ginger cookies from Valentino, the head of the troupe, or traveling cirus. 10 each, max fame.
4) First trade per game day u get a costume. A certain NPC gives the same costume to all the PCs. Costumes include: shadows, skeletons, ghost, Quadav, Yags, Orcs. Only 1 costume per game day.
5) Trading additional sweets will result in 2 things: They say "thank you..." or you get one of the staves/pumpkin heads from last year.
VERY IMPORTANT: if u have one of these items in event NPC storage take it out because u can get another one.
6) Unlike last year fruit does not work

So far, in the 2 hours the servers where up i've obtained these items:
Pumpkin Head, Horror Head, Trick Staff, Trick Staff II, Treat Staff II.
I did it buying a stack of Acorn Cookies, Cinna-Cookies, and Ginger Cookies from the NPC in Windy Waters (near smooth stone quest npc). I then made a macro using /tem "Cinna-cookie" /wait 1 /item "Ginger cookie" so on. I just spammed this on an NPC in costume until i got an item. Then i moved onto the other NPC.
You can get more than 1 item per day.
The item you get may depend on the items you're wearing, the order that i got my items in suggest thats correct.
If you have a item you can recieve it again, but it will not give u a duplicate of a R/X item. It will tell u to sort your inventory even if it is not full. I'll equip my Pumpkin Head II and Trick staff 1 and see if i get those HQ and post the result as soon as the servers come back up. I had been wearing my Horror Head and Trick Staff II, which might explain why i hadent gotten any items for a long stretch.
I've traded over 900 cookies so far spamming, so i would definetly recommend buying them from the NPC's or crafting them yourself. On odin, bazzars where charging 70k/stack for chinna-cookies in bastok.

While I'm kind of pissed my original post in this thread got deleted without even a PM of explanation... If this is like last year what you are wearing DOES DEFINATELY MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
As some have said already... in order to get the HQ versions (horror head and treat staff) you need to have the NQ version equipped. Whether they are I or II depends on which version of the NQ you have equipped.
If you don't equip anything, you will get an NQ eventually... If you keep HQs equipped, you won't ever get anything else.

Pale, it was proven last year what you wear does not matter, believe what you will, this is the correlation I saw personally
as of the pitchforks, just wait a few days for the moogles to show up, im sure the pitchfork event will come with them
