At lvl 60 my wide scan is big enough that it can show up about 40-50 mobs all around me. Remote scan allows you to just scan a small area to see what's specifically there, rather than several grid squares.

There is a stickied thread on the BST forum at allakhazam.com which lists all the best places for soloing. Much better than I could do, as it compiles about 20 different BSTs' opinions.
But I will say this. From 1-10 don't use a pet, and just fight like a war. It's actually generally faster and less hassly. From around 11-12ish you can start using pets. :]

Nice job
I'm going to give bst a chance as I'm a bit fed up with the whole waiting-for-pt-thing and since I don't always like to play with others but just want to do something solo while still getting good exp..

hi hi,
a little macro question, for a bst in a pt.
let's say i charmed something, i fight with the pt with my pet by my side, then the charm is broken and my pet goes wild.
is there a macro to re-charm my pet, without having to disengage from the mob i'm already fighting ? (because this would take time, and be annoying since it might happen a lot)
something like /ja "Charm" mypetthatjustwentwild :3
thank you
(sorry, maybe my english isn't really good, i guess you understood what i mean anyway)
edit: thank you Lily

The only one you can use in this situation to charm something while still fighting is:
/ja "Charm"
That way, you can remain fighting the mob, but when you press your charm macro, a little purple pointer appears. You use TAB to move it around until it's on your old pet, then press enter.

is the exp really good as a bst? i have been thinking about changing to bst but i don't want to if the highest exp is only 50-100. just seems too long! although i guess in the long run it would be faster considering no pt wait time. what do u guys think??

This is a great page, but i don't understand the Bestiery stuff.... I would love some advise. Specifically how to read which monsters I should use to kill which monsters.....I know which families the monsters fall in but not which ones they are best suited to destory. Thanks Spyder.

Np
Pick a mob, and the one to the right of it has a chance of being intimidated by the one you chose.
So if you charm a bee, it'd be good against mandragoras. :-)

Thx!!
And lol omg, I have no idea how I failed on those bats in full AF. Like 71+25 charisma, sheesh. :scream
Like I've said before this sorta stuff happens. It's like those times when you get a charm on an IT when you're not wearing charm gear. It works both ways.
(
(as for the relation between families of mobs, there isn't. Like using plantoid on dragon won't give you any negative or positive effects)

Oh, very useful list there Lily! Thanks for the info. My poor bst is 20, so I'm still trying to figure it out. I solo in Buburimu, it's pretty decent

Just one tiny thing. "Gauge" is one of the most-often misspelled words we have in the English language. %)
Other than that, this guide is massively useful and answers quite a few questions I had about bst. Bravo!

Thanks for the great guide, Lily. ^^
Could someone link to that Allakhazam page? I can't find it for some reason.

Yeah sure, the link for the BST lvl'ing guide is:
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fj...6864698&num=161
It really is a very good guide, just a pity it doesn't go all the way to 75.
As for XP on a BST, solo you are still able to hit chain #5 for 250 XP. but I don't think you can expect that all the time. It's really dependant of the mobs you fighting, the pets available and the area you are fighting in. I will say however, that in a BST pty, you can pull more XP per hour than any regular pty I've ever seen or been in. In a 3 man BST pty at around lvl 40, we hit a chain #5 for 280 XP with our pets (remember you get a % reduction in XP with a pet), and the only thing causing downtime is the availability of pets.
Just my two cents...
