i am currently at 32....where do i lvl? and off of what help me out >< plzz
i took alot of crap from everyone in the ls cause i partied to 32 and soloed while i was lfg.... i think BST should be a solo job after 35 when they get leave but IMO: BST has the ability to solo, it never says anywhere in the game rules they HAVE to solo.....and i think its the choice of the BST wether to party or solo and i think partying to 35 would be the best idea so u die less and about the whole practice thing...i soloed from 1-14, 20-23, 27-30. so im well practiced in soloing but death is inevetible for me...seems to be that i die once every 6-8 mobs, so do u guys consider partying with BST "cheating"? and where can i solo at 32? plzz give me feedback thnx~

Just thought I'd point something out for all the beastmasters that truly despise xping WHM.
You can get xp items by doing escort quests once every week. At about lvl 55 you can also charm almost every monster in Crawlers' Nest. Through strategic use of pets you can turn ten minutes of walking around as a beastmaster into about 1k xp for any other job. You don't even have to kill a single monster. It's not the fastest way to level up a job, but it works if you absolutely refuse to use it as a main job.

So many questions were asked here that I don't even know where to begin.
Do NOT go /anon while at a camp! This pisses other BST off immensely, as it ruins their ability to scout out an exp locale from town. Also, do note that if you make him waste time, oils, powders, and chocobo fee to get to the camp and you're there /anon, he's very unlikely to respect your presence.
As far as 1-10, I strongly advise that you DO use pets because you need to get used to using them now while death results in far less exp, than it will later on. I'd suggest /war until 10 or 12 when /whm will provide enough MP to be worthwhile. On the topic of gear, your priorities will be CHR, MP, and every little boost you can get to everything else. VIT is handy for surviving blows and AGI helps your evasion and shield blocking.
Too much charisma is a possibility; Don't go overboard as you need room for MP and other stats. Monster Signa is unecessary and doesn't help that much, and I've known Galkan BSTs that got by without theirs, so you can live without yours. Besides, the -5VIT sucks.
As for how to engage a mob for exp, pre-leave I ate my exp cut and threw pets at stuff as much as possible only using heel-stay to take full exp once in a while. Death sucked a lot worse than getting less exp for a kill. I didn't start meleeing with my pets regularly until I had leave, because 35ish was about the time pets hit hard enough to hold hate off me sufficiently for my safety. Of course post leave, you can get in there and fight with your pet, and [Leave] & finish it with a Raging Axe for full exp.
On Powerlevelling: Please, if you have any respect for the job whatsoever, don't PL it, it will only hurt you in the long run. Not having the safety net helps you think on your feet as a professional soloist, and makes you a much sharper duo partner to work alongside. Parties I can understand, but invites are so few and far between I really can't mention those much. I will say that we are a worthwhile Damage Dealer when packed as BST/WAR. Pre50 Dual wield sucks, so avoid BST/NIN for DD duty.
As far as a fast rundown of where I levelled, I can give a quick rundown. I'm bastokan so much of it was Bastok centric.
1-10 Gustaberg
10-12 Dangruf Wadi
12-15 Konschat Highlands
15-20 Valkurm Dunes
20-22 Pashow Marshland
22-29 Qufim
29-33 Korroloka Tunnel
33-34 East Altepa Desert
34-35 Gusgen Mines
35-36 Bibiki Bay
Gusgen mines was a particularly tough place to exp so here's my tips on that, but it was hands down the best place to get to 35 since bombs let you get high exp for nice chains, especially in a duo. Get a duo partner for Gusgen if at all possible! You'll need lots of oils to avoid sound aggro from Myconids, Gallinippers, and undead on the way to camp. The powders just help out in case you need to get past a bomb.
Korroloka got slow for toward 33, so I actually did that level by killing the two Scimitar Scorpions for 200xp a pop and wasting everything else between the two spawns for speedkill exp. The fights took a while, but it was exciting so it was worth it.
For Qufim, I was fighting basically everything I could kill as long as it gave exp. I'd use crabs vs worms (since worms intimidate bats!) and bats vs wights and even weapons. The weapons were tough fights and not entirely worth the exp.
Lower levels, I just levelled on common stuff like Goblins, Lizards, Quadav, and whatever else was out and about in the zone I happened to be in at the time. Goblins are nice since they sometimes 'self destruct' like a bomb.
Food: I really don't use food on BST, but if you really want to there's a couple nice ones. I'd suggest San d'Orian Tea, Tuna Sushi, or Flint Caviar. Generally, you'll do just fine without food, and the worthwhile ones for BST are pricey.
Jugs & Pet food: I suggest the Hare, Tiger, Lizard, and Mayfly familiars. As far as pet foods, Gamma is the lowest one that gives a really worthwhile pet HP boost and is still pretty cheap to make or buy. The Crab familiar is also excellent, especially in its HQ form CourrierCarrie, which is used all the way to 75BST along with HQ Tree Sap Panzer Gallahad jug.
BST Crafts: If you want to be a beastmaster for the long haul, I'd advise levelling cooking so you can make your own jugs such as CourrierCarrie. If you're REALLY inventive, you can level woodworking so you can make Tree Sap that calls a Beetle Familiar, which the HQ Panzer Gallahad is considered THE BEST for your BST Maat fight.

- 1 Use /nin to avoid hits from bombs because they hit like a truck
2 I'd advise 2 stacks of oil and 1 stack powders
3 Everything aggros, so stay alert.
4 Do not for any reason engage bombs yourself; Self Destruct WILL kill you

I <3 j00 Lily. You're my idol Beastmistress. I hope that one day while you're in Boyada Tree you'll mistake me for a rabbit or mandragora and charm me. Let me be your pet taru so you can take me with you where ever you go. You can use me pull, fight, do special attacks, or even carry me around between your jugs. I mean in a jug, yeah, like normal pets, and I'm uncapped too. I have 4 special attacks you can use with the Sic command.
1. /panic : Confuses the enemy.
2. /playdead : Grants the effect of Reraise.
3. /rollover : Sneak Attack + Trick Attack.
4. /sit : Recover Full HP/MP and Status.
You can even use me with other pets at the same time. Plz adopts meh. :love

By the way, is awesome, I never knew it existed until I read your post. ^^

Thorgrim :
hi hi,
a little macro question, for a bst in a pt.
let's say i charmed something, i fight with the pt with my pet by my side, then the charm is broken and my pet goes wild.
is there a macro to re-charm my pet, without having to disengage from the mob i'm already fighting ? (because this would take time, and be annoying since it might happen a lot)
something like /ja "Charm" mypetthatjustwentwild :3

I don't think that this has been mentioned here but to charm a pet that just went wild if you are using /ja "Charm"

I like My pets usually come uncharmed half way during fights lol, but it really helps on going through just npc instead of pc and npc ^^. 25 bst/nin *i like nin more than whm*

Just wanted to point this out to an earlier question: One way you can quickly recharm your pet if it becomes uncharmed while fighting is to track it, then use "/ja "Charm" ". You won't have to disengage or spend any time targetting to recharm your pet this way, although tracking every new pet with widescan gets tedious.

Crucifist :
question about the command...
i've never seen or heard of this so i know nothing about it. i just wonder, if someone calls for help can you use something like:
/ja "Provoke"
/ta
/a
ya know...things like that, well rather my question is, does it work with everything or is it just widescan?
Edit: the "/a" was a typo but kind of funny after i saw ^^;

Crucifist: I've never tried all those yet actually. What I can say tho is that /pet "Fight" works fine, even if I just have a mob selected, not actually tracked via widescan.

For AF Body, using Reward will not only heal your pet, but also nullify one status effect that can be removed with a -na spell. (Paralyze - Paralyna, Blind - Blindna)
AF2 Body, using Reward will nullify a status effect that can be removed with erase (Bio, Dia, Bind).
...I think. ^^
