Alright, in 5 levels i Plan to go pali, and with that comes a much easier time holding Hate...But till then..

Im a War/Mnk, so Im boosting every 15, and provoking every 30. However, being a tank I dont want to use Berserk, and Defender doesnt draw hate...

So other than damage dealing, Boost/Voke...are there any tips some better warriors can give me for handling hate? I mean...If a warrior is using a greatsword, I find it harder to bring the hate back to me, cuz theyre doing soo much damage. And there are times where my WHM is drawign too much hate, or BLM drawing too much hate...

Theres my issue...talk amongst yo selves ^^;

What weapon are you using?
I mean... if you are using Polearm... you are doing MAD damage... if you are using a Axe... or G.Axe... you are also dealing some good damage...

I am assuming you are leveling... in Qufim or Yuhtunga Jungle...so... what you need to do is just rotate provokes... I like to go... after each 15second showing... how ever you do it is good... but... is should go like... Main Provokes... then.. 2ndary Vokes when it runs... then you voke when ready... then 2ndary... or... if both of you have good DEF and VIT... just rotate during each of your 15 seconds showings... that way... you 2 will always keep the hate... :boing

warriors aren't supposed to control hate, they're just supposed to make sure mages dont get it, it's hard really to control agro on 1 tank until you get a paladin w/ flash, then he can hold agro w/ ease, but i believe flash is a lvl 30'ish spell, i'm not sure though.

The weapon im using a great sword for solo, 1hd sword and shield for partying...

Im guilty for the "I like greatsword cuz it looks cool"...It has more style and finesse, however Im sure a greataxe would better. The thing is, Im not a big fan of the delay, and the GS has a pretty safe delay...

Should I give the Great Axe a shot? Since it is the best weapon for them, may ill be doing more damage? Or should I give the 1hd axe and shield the go for a party situation.

I know im not suppose to control the hate as a warrior, thats why im going for pali. HOWEVER, I want the be the sacrifical lamb so to speak, id rather protect everyone in my party...

Should i be provoking the whole time, or should I just provoke when necessary?

When I gave the greatsword a chance, it actually bored me quite a bit. The delay sucked, the damage sucked, and I missed like hell against worthless monsters...

Of course, it was because the level was 0, but im sure the delay would suck against IT monsters

Thats why I dont understand why DRKs love the scythe, because I mean...the delay sucks, and your gonna miss against IT...

Then again, i never played as anything but War or Monk, so i dont know...Anyoen answer that?

I dont know what your all talking about... when i lvled war to 30 with monk sub i had no problems holding hate. Qufim and Yuntung i had no problems with hate. The way i maintained agro was i had groups for skillchains to not include me. allowed me to use my weapon skills at the 18 second mark where i normaly would have lost agro. In the event i did lose agro i would hit breserk do a couple of hard hits gain agro back provoke then cancel breserk right away. used a polearm most of the time due to dmg speed ratio...

Well your using a pole arm, and using berserk, which is somethign I didnt want to do, because im sacrificing Defense. Im using a shield and against IT's, 1hd weapons arend cutting it really.

But great point about the WS's though..

Also, I now this is a stupid idea but I'm normally a solo-ing player, so I have WHM sub - when I'm in PTs I find that curing others in PT really helps to keep aggro. Also, I'm still using Plantreaper (Add'tl againt Plants: Bind) in Yuhtunga b/c I'm at skill 79 and manage to bind the lil' onions quite a bit. ("Shadow of Death" is a great WS, too) *BIG GRIN*

The only thing is: there is an LS member who is a Monk/War and using grapple, he deals so much damage that I can't pull hate off him, but he tanks really well even as Monk.

Sidenote on holding hate:

I am currently selling ingots (Copper, Brass, Bronze) and making sufficient money, so I now have the option to upgrade either weapons or armor.

Which do you think would be a better option as far as being a successful tank?

mabey u get stuck with stupid drks?
im a drk and use a scythe only, i do mad damage (100-300) and i rarely miss, i sub thf or war, and have things that boost my ACC
its ez to hit something, even an it, when you have a dex of 40+17, lol, then stack an absorb dex on that, its 40+27, and use abosrb agi to drain the enemy's agi and lower its eva... it works ezly

You're a Mithra Heero, most people think Elvaan and stuff make great DRK's, and well.. they don't. They're good at it, no doubt but they require much much more work than you will. Thats why it's almost lacking.. considering that Elvaan are a bit suffering in both of the DRK's most important stats (Dex/Int). But they're doable, just like anything else, with the right amount of money.

When I'm not soloing, I'm usually in PT with other tanks who want to pull/voke/main tank, so I cast zerk, but then I'll voke and then I'll be sitting there takin' chunks and gettin' chunks taken from me! LOL

this will help to stop that from happening...)
