How to lv your guild ,and how to make money to fund it.

Okay everyone I'm writing this to help all you people out there who are wondering some of these things: Will crafting make me money? Can i make money other ways? What do i need to find gil making oppertunities? ect. ect.

Now the first thing is if crafting is right for you. It will take many a days of trying to collect money for materials ,and yes you heard right in the begginning it will cost you money. Lots of money. However, there is a good side. Think of it like this....I'm sure you've heard about farming, and how you can sell ore and logs for around 3k and some for 11k like silk. But how do you think the people buying thats stuff can afford it? Easy, 11k is chump change for them. They've spent the time and all of the k to be able to do that. Now some of you are wondering why they would spend 50k+ into a guild, but here it is.....You can spend 3hours and make 5-8k farming. Not bad for a days profit, but they have spent the time and 50k so they can buy 2k worth of stuff and turn it into something worth 12k (a 10k profit in 5min. tops of work.) The only thing they have to do is spend 5min. making some thing and wait for it to sell. BOOM! 10k for 5min work (this also gives you time to go exp or have fun with your free time ,instead of running around the mines). Now it would take 5 days and 25min. work to pay off that debt. Then they're getting 10k a day for the rest of playing carrers (maybe more if they kept working on it. Can u say 30k a day?50k?100k? it is possible you just have to be able to work for it).And if that didn't want you to start a trade then you will never be rich.

Now then you start a trade and you learn some recipes....then what? Well you go find the best price for your materials wiether it be a shop, your guild, or the AH. If you can even find the items you need it's even more profit. But what about that 50-70k you need to start like a champ? If you don't have that you should do the following first.

Well it's really very simple. If you just do a little planning ahead of time you can add k's to the bottom line easy.Because you see the key to getting rich is being patient, and smart (and no not your mind skill). Ex. Lets say you find a way to buy a stack of 12 for 1k and then sell them 1 by 1 at 200, and you had 2k to start. The math would be....2000 - 1000 for stack = 1000 + 200 for each sale ,or 1000 + 200 X 12 = 3400 that you have for your waiting. You see just by being able to wait for them all to sell you've made a profit of 1400!

There are more ways to make money too. Like in your lower levels you might want to do repeatable quest that give gil (I'll tell you my favorite in a moment). You can also farm crystals ,which i think is the safest, not the fastest but safe. What i mean is that there is no risk. you only have to ways to come out of it: richer ,or with no loss. Because all you do is get signet for FREE and then you have a chance to make money, see no risk.

My favorite repeatable quest for Bastock is the "Cold Light of Day" quest. You buy a quus(its a fish) for 200 at AH trade it to the ??? behind the light house in south gusta to make Bubbling Bernie pop (he's a NM lv 9-10). Kill him to get a steam clock which you give to Malene for 500(she's in Bastock Markets I-9). You see? 300 profit for a fight. It gets better after you get 2k off this. You buy a stack of quus for 2k and do the quest 12 times ,and will get evn more profit. Now here's the math.....if you do it by buying them 1 at a time>>5k - 200X12 in quus = 1600 + 500X12 in rewards = 7500..compared to you doing it with a stack>>5k - 2000 for quus =3k + 500X12 in rewards = 9000. So it comes back, just by thinking about it i will now make 1.5k more off of it (4k total)Too bad that everyone will now do this quest and the price for quus will come up....O that reminds me i gotta teach you about the rise and fall of prices at the AH and what to do about it.

Ok now this may be the most important thing you learn here. Now say you are selling silver ore for 500 each like everyone else does and someone starts selling them for 300? What do you do about it?Well... this is complicated but it's accually a good thing for everyone at some point. I'll list who gets benifited and in what order.

1)The person who undercut all of you because he'll make up for his low profit by making lots of sales. EX.if you are selling at 500 for 300 profit (not real numbers just an ex) and you sell 4 a day you get 1200 profit. Good for you! Then he starts selling for 300 with 100 profit. Now you might wonder why he'd lower his income by 200 gil per sale ,but it's because he will sell 12 a day due to his low prices which is 1200 profit.

2)The people buying. Sooner or later someone will get tired of this and undercut him and then someone will undercut him, and so on and so forth. The people buying will get the good stick this time because now everything cost less. I dont think i need to write an EX for this one. Do i?

3) You and all the other smart people. After awhile all the silver ores will be gone from the AH except for the small batch that belongs to the group off people who didn't drop their prices (this means you). You will get the most benifit because now there is no more ore but yours and people still want them. This helps you cause you can now raise your prices ,but people will still buy them cbecause they still need it. EX.you have the only ores left with maybe a few others so you can raise your price to 700 and get a 500 profit. The reason you wouldn't just sell less ores and make the same amount per gil is beacause yours is the only ore up there so you will still sell 4 a day which equals a great 2k profit. The reson everyone doesn't wait is because they are restless and would rather have quick cash (hence undercutting). So once again patients is the key.

The prices will then drop back to 500 cuz the people who undercut will get more ore and your prices will be to high so you drop them to 500 along with the undercutters who will raise it to 500 because they need to repay the money they lost. But after awhile someone will get antsy ,and undercut which will make the whole thing start over again.......

Once you have your money to start simply pick a giuld you like the most or one that will suit your character. Follow recipies ,up your skills , go into debt ,pay it off in 5 days ,and have wealth for the rest of your gaming life. smile.gif

#####################################################################

I made this part as an update, but i think i'l help quite a bit. This section covers how to up your guild level in the shortest, fastest, and cheapest way i've found *note: The guides in here are not my own. They have been given to me by some of the best crafters in the unicorn sever. They have asked me not to give names to avoid beggers in the game. Also I've put up guides to the highest levels i could so please bear with me if the guide stops at lv50 or so.Ill get more as soon as i can.tx*

O give credit to dragonhope for this.."If skill cap of the item you're making is 5 to 10 levels away from your current skill level, use Advanced Image Support when synthing. However, if it's under 5 skill levels away before the item caps, you can use the free Image Support or no Image Support at all."

Ok ill start with cooking and work my way down as i get the guides........

Pretty informative. I just wish you didn't use the same "internet" language that you use to talk with. Meaning, you should replace "u" with "you" and so forth to make it look more professional. In fact, I actually considered skipping this post because of the way it was typed out. But this is really an awesome little guide.

I rate it an A (A+ if you edit out all the u's and r's and use their proper spelling format).

Come on now, all that typing and you expect him to spell out -you-?

Great post Galka. I prefer farming over this type of stuff. But it's a good read for sure.

I'm not going to give you a direct answer for that. I'll just do this instead:

http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=1901

Read it and let me know how many "u" you see in there.

On an additional note im working on a goldsmithing guild because they seem to be in demand. Also, i've read your guide DragonHope ,and was wondering if I could post it on mine?

You buy a stack of quus for 2k and do the quest 12 times. Now here's the math.....if you do it 1 by 1>>5k - 200X12 in quus = 1600 + 500X12 in rewards = 7500..compared to a stack>>5k - 2000 for quus =3k + 500X12 in rewards = 9000.

I understand what your trying to say.. but it seems a bit mixed up. took me a min to figure out, but maybe im just a slow idiot ^^

Smithing has been done. Dragonhope fished up a post from somewhere. it's called Smithing 0-60+

It's a pretty damn good guide. Thanks again ^^

With regards to goldsmithing:
---------------------------------
10-17: try turning those brass ingots to brass hairpins and desynth them back to brass ingots. This progression can work rather well and fast. However, be prepared to lose a stack of ingots (I went from 11 to 16 in no time) At the cost of a stack of Brass ingots T_T

There's also a slight variations after 17. Silver ingot is definitely the way to go. At around 20-21, make earrings. Onyx earring sells rather well. It cost about 1,900 gils each to make and you can sell them for 2-2.5k.

(silver earring can be bought at lower Jeuno gem shop for 1250 gils, and onyx can be mined [black rock] or buy direct from AH for about 600-700 gils)

Once you hit 22, synth and desynth silver hairpin. Fast level, but at a great cost and risk

I seriously hope I don't get shot for providing these info ^^;;

hope you don't mind me adding some info about alchemy (I absolutely love this craft) - Smurv has already found a link for a relative cheap guide from 0-60.

Here's my progression. Advance Synthesis is required if you want to level fast.

0-whatever: 1 stack of antidotes. These don't sell well, (quick and simple to get started) Buy 1 stack of grapes, winjurit, and distilled water. I managed to get to about lvl 1.4 or 1.5 after this.

1-5 (Beeswax): Bees are your friends. Farm them like they have badmouthed your family. Mass killing them for beehives chips and honey. SAVE ALL THE WAXES you have crafted!!! Honey will be used later (I had 9 stacks in my mule for fast leveling ^^)
(I have 3 stacks as soon as I hit lvl 5)

Here's where things get interesting. DON'T be afraid of loss.. it happens

5-10 (Poison dust): GET ADV. Synthesis support. You can either buy a fishing rod and start fishing or buy them from the guild/AH. I crafted about 2 - 3 stacks of poison powder before the next step

10-12 (Mercury): Jellyfishes, jellyfishes, and more jellyfishes. Get them anyway you can. I personally fished them all. (I wanted to level cooking and fishing while I was crafting anyway)

12-15 (Poison Potions): First paydirt. With the mercury and poison powder that you have crafted. Combine them and sell them. It was like 10k a stack up in AH. I was a happy man happy.gif (BCNM 40 - onions put you to sleep. a way to counter is to poison yourself, so they actually sell)

15-20 (Echo Drops): Here's where you use all the honey you have saved. They sell rather well becuz people wanna play with worms (they have a nasty silence move). So people actually buy them. 4.5k a stack up in AH Bastok happy.gif

20-24 (Silent oil x 4): Another money maker. Use the beeswax. Buy or farm the slime oil. If you farm the oil. You can easily make 5-6k a stack of silent oil you put up in AH.

24-29 (Silent oil x 2): Sad sad day, I am farming this just for skillup. Hopefully it won't set me back too far.

(future)
29-40 (potion) Liz farming. You also know what NM you'll be hunting while at it happy.gif

I forgot the recipe (crystal) + (ingredient)

Antidote (0-?): water + san d'oria grape, winjurit, distilled water

Beeswax (1-5): fire + 3 beehive chips, distilled water

Poison Potion (12 - 14/15) Water + Poison powder, mercury

Echo Drop (14/15 - 20) Water + Honey, sage, distilled water

Silent oil x 4 (20 - 24) Water + Slime oil, 2 beeswax
