personally i think twinkling treant was 100x more fun than the various trading/shouting/scavenger hunt type events.

I only joined the game when it was introduced on the PS2 in early 2004, so I never got to do the treants event. I also never got to do the event that got you the chocobo wand. It's the only event item I don't have. tongue.gif

The summer and Halloween events are tied for my favorite holiday events. Me and my friend Aladwar love doing those events where you need to partner up. I used to love the Starlight Celebration until this year, all the pretty decorations and delivering presents to the NPC kiddies. But the robe quest they added this year was just a pain in the ass. It's not that the quest was very hard once you learned the process. It's all the shouting for jobs and having to find the right people that drove me crazy. This year's robe quest and the Easter event are both the worst events ever, imo.

Would be best to have event names. I can give you them if you like~ -.- Chocobo wand is the only item i don't have too.

Twinkling treants (no clue, wasn't playing till summer of that year. All I know is that the servers that killed x amount of treants got the Outpost Teleport system.)

Moogle Player Statistics = "Vanadiel Adventurer Appreciation!" (was shortly after the new years event, just before valentines')

Level 1 escort to ??? = OMFG o.O It's SUMMERFEST!! (was amazingly fun, I loved this event so much.. especially this year)~

Egg trading = Easter, lol

Halloween costume - Havest Festival

and Blitz Buffalo is well.. Blitz Buffalo.
---------------------

I wasn't happy with the robe event this year. Not really beacuse it was hard for my (it was at the start, but I got the hang of it) but because it's almost impossible for players under level 10, or that only have one job and have recently started playing FFXI to get an item.

The great thing about these events is they are an extremely driving force that binds players of all levels, play times and nationalities together, that's why they're so much fun~

Yay ^^d /wave Nyamavu~

I missed out on the Twinkling Treants as well. Now that sounds like an actual event. There needs to be a monthly raid on the cities. Now that would be fun.

Twinkle Treants beyond a shadow of a doubt was the best event SE ever came up with. Nothing beat seeing hordes and hordes of low lvl ppl get flattened by i big pissed off tree in the newbie zones (and elsewhere).

Best.Event.Ever.

End of story.

for those who didnt know what the treant event was about, there was this festival treant in many of the zones. you would talk to the moogle which would cap you at level 20(?) and you would go get slaughtered by AoE

the reward for killing them was later given by S-E... teh ultimate outpost teleport warp things

If you really want to make an all-inclusive list, the last day of beta was by far the best event ever.

Rare are those who are still around from back then, I'm one of the few antiques clunking around. But I was at King Behemoth with a GM getting totally MPKawpwned over and over. It was so much damn fun.

From what I hear, some other peeps were at Roc, but I was having so much fun I didn't want to leave. I think, still, that is one of if not the most fun days in all these years of playing.

Other than that, I think the treant one was fun. Dyire's explanation cracks me up.

yeah i heard about the beta thing. basically you talked to moogle and they warped you to an HNM right? there were people at serket, gigantoad (doomed HNM in eastern sarutabaruta LOL), behemoth, and roc, and GM's were fighting the NMs. but back then most beta testers hadn't even hit level 50 so they just got wasted. sounds hilarious smile.gif

lol yeah, I was lvl 30. People wearing I.M. Gear were "zomg fucking check this guy!!11!!"

So basically what happened was the GM would keep whacking KB until he died, then he would repop a few seconds later. The whole time there were just giant piles of dead bodies cause we'd all be standing there going "ooo Meteor, I wonder what it'll look...(dead)"

I liked the Eastern armor event...
it was so fun to hunt down those incredibly fast little bastards and beat them down with a wooden stick >:3

I absolutely HATEHATEHATE the egg one... people are always monopolizing the eggs and spamspamspam ><

the new one sucks too ><

I liked the Blitz Buffalo one. Pulling it to the city gates was loads of fun! Shame summoners made taking it down too easy.

Events I like, really like(from greatest to least):
1. Christmas 2003 event
2. *Summerfest (the first one, the 2nd one kind of sucks)
3. The event where you had wooden katanas (that was fun)

Events I don't like:
Anything that has to do with just sitting in town, shouting, buying stuff, or nothing really "active" as well as annoying to finish.

*This is about how fun the event was, not how cool the items are; but the first one, you got to explore areas you never been to if you never been to, with people, it's more interactive and active than events today.

Also, the buffalo event was just got annoying than fun, yeah it's fun/funny when you party up and alliance and fight it for the first time, then after 30 minutes it's just annoying, ended up only with a NQ sash, that I threw away.

What I kind of want, would be it snowing in the cities, it would just look nice, though unrealistic since well, you won't see any snow on the ground, but nice looking. I always wanted rain/snow sometimes in cities.

It's a tossup between summerfest 2004 and christmas 2003 :x Both were so fun! Summerfest because that is one of the only events where it felt like everyone was truely absorbed in the event... I still remember when I zoned into the newbie zones! I choco'd in, then instead of hearing the usual gustaberg music... I hear the distant exploding of fireworks, and the sounds of Japanese instruments everwhere! It was so exciting! Then, when I got to Bastok, everyone was gathering around the moogle, having a good ol' time, sporting their new yukatas, and showing off fireworks. It was truely fun.

And of course, that vs. a bunch of newbies getting killed by a giant tree, I really don't know!! kekeke~

HOLY CRAP TREANTS ROCKED FFXI... lol and summerfest rocked. I started when summerfest was going on and when I came on for the first time I thought the fireworks were a all year thing lol.

I'd be happy with just snowballs to whip at other players.....them snowballs do wonders in WoW for interupting players trying to nuke ya.

As for fav event, Twinkling Treant, even though I was only lvl11 at that time and couldn't attend. ;P
