  1. Megaupload shut down, how about some Dead Drops

    20 January 2012 - 09:30 AM

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — With 150 million registered users, about 50 million hits daily and endorsements from music superstars, Megaupload.com was among the world's biggest file-sharing sites. Big enough, according to a U.S. indictment, that it earned founder Kim Dotcom $42 million last year alone.

The movie industry howled that the site was making money off pirated material. Though the company is based in Hong Kong and Dotcom was living in New Zealand, some of the alleged pirated content was hosted on leased servers in Virginia, and that was enough for U.S. prosecutors to act.

The site was shut down Thursday, and Dotcom and three Megaupload employees were arrested in New Zealand on U.S. accusations that they facilitated millions of illegal downloads of films, music and other content, costing copyright holders at least $500 million in lost revenue.

    Happy New Year!

Along with the implementation of the Test Server and the relaunch of the Free Trial last year, it was also a year that was a turning point for large changes in the development team. Continuing this year, the development and operations team are highly inspired and will be adding a variety of content to expand the world of Vana’diel even more.

Also, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the FINAL FANTASY franchise and the 10th anniversary for FINAL FANTASY XI. We are currently drawing up plans to see if we can celebrate with you all in some way so I hope you’ll all look forward to it.

    Happy New Year!

Last year was a year that was a turning point for FFXI in which a lot of issues were posed through the forums.

This year makes the 10th anniversary of FFXI, so I would like to have many of these issues answered and at the same time offer a clear vision, provide new enjoyable content that is appropriate for the 10th anniversary.

Also, I would like to comment more on the forum moving forward to show the development team’s ideas. I hope you’ll all look forward to it.

I will be working my hardest this year to make sure that everyone’s love for FFXI is not betrayed.

I guess since it’s a New Year, you want to hear about goals for the future, eh?

Along with the 10th anniversary, there will be a large amount of improvements and changes to both software and hardware. We intend to take the initiative and handle the issues that have not been resolved for a long time, new bugs that arise, and all the other things that we’ve been receiving comments about.

Along side this we are making a variety of preparations, so please forgive me if something slips my mind in the process.

We’ll continue working our hardest because of your continued support!
  3. FINAL FANTASY XI Screenshot Caption Contest (EU)

FINAL FANTASY XI SCREENSHOT CAPTION CONTEST (EU)

We are pleased to announce that the FINAL FANTASY® XI SCREENSHOT CAPTION CONTEST has finally come for our European players to enter! The premise is fairly simple; we create a thread on the forum that features a Christmas-themed FFXI screenshot and all you need to do is post your wittiest, craziest and most hilarious comment that matches the screenshot! Other community members can then - if they so choose - click on the “Like!” button to vote for your entry. The comment with the most “Likes!” at the end of the contest wins! But don’t fret, because the comments with the 2nd and 3rd most “Likes!” will also win the 2nd and 3rd place prizes, too! Don’t be shy, give it a shot!

Speaking of prizes, here is our line-up of goodies:

    • Tarutaru Figurines + FINAL FANTASY XI Original Soundtrack -PLUS- (grand prize winner)

  4. [dev1040] Merit points adjustments

    09 December 2011 - 07:29 PM

Greetings! I have some information to pass along in regards to the merit point adjustments! We looked into both groups 1 and 2 of the merit points and decided to make the following adjustments:

    • Group 1
As the first step we take, we’ll be reviewing point increases.

    • Group 2
      • Abilities with an increased effect from the second step on
We have no plans for adjustments for now.

      • Abilities with a shorter recast time from the second step on
We plan on adjusting these abilities so that their effects are increased with each step, instead of having their recast time shortened with each step. The recast time that has been shortened up to the fifth step will be used.

The following are adjustments that do not deal with the effects of merit points.
The below examples are for ease of reference.

Ex 1: Devotion is raised to the fifth step
Before: The recast time is shortened from 20 minutes to 10 minutes

        After: Increased MP recovery
*The recast time is fixed at 10 minutes

Ex 2: Sange is raised to the fifth step
Before: The recast time is shortened from 15 minutes to 5 minutes

After: Shadow images are no longer consumed
*The recast time is fixed at 5 minutes
*We are considering adding new shuriken

      • Other
If the above adjustments do not solve all of the problems, we'll look into adjusting the effects themselves.

Upon further development and consideration, the adjustments may change, but for now we plan on making the above adjustments. We will let you know when we decide on the details.

  5. Merit Weapon Skills, what will you do?

    30 November 2011 - 12:04 PM

The current plans of only being able to spend 15 merits in the weapon skill category make it so we are unable to get each one and max out atleast one. How do you plan on spending merits on them, get them all, cap three off, something else?
