  1. In Topic: 11] Grounds of Valor and Dungeon Treasure Caskets / Revamped Monster Placement (04/27/2011)

    27 April 2011 - 03:06 AM

    • [dev1011] Grounds of Valor and Dungeon Treasure Caskets

Alongside revamped monster placement [dev1012], the upcoming version update will see the expansion of existing battle content in the form of Grounds of Valor and new dungeon treasure caskets.

      • Grounds of Valor

Like its precursor Fields of Valor, Grounds of Valor is a battle system based around the concept of training regimes. These regimes will task adventurers with slaying set quotas of enemies in return for experience, gil, and points called tabs that may be redeemed for a variety of rewards. By undertaking multiple training regimes in the same area, players will find themselves able to fell enemies with greater ease and become eligible for more lavish rewards.

To participate, examine a "Grounds Tome" located in one of the areas listed below and select your desired regime from the menu.

      • Dungeon Treasure Caskets
Defeating enemies in the following areas may now result in the appearance of a treasure casket:
Ranguemont Pass / Bostaunieux Oubliette / Toraimarai Canal / Zeruhn Mines / King Ranperre's Tomb / Dangruf Wadi / Inner Horutoto Ruins / Ordelle’s Caves / Outer Horutoto Ruins / The Eldieme Necropolis / Gusgen Mines / Crawlers’ Nest / Maze of Shakhrami / Garlaige Citadel / Fei’Yin

*These features are scheduled to be expanded to other areas in coming updates.

    • [dev1012] Revamped Monster Placement

      • Several areas will receive adjustments to monster distribution in order to cater to high-level characters.
      • The level of monsters near the entrance of affected areas will remain unchanged. However, players will encounter higher level monsters as they venture deeper.
      • These adjustments will be implemented alongside Grounds of Valor and Dungeon Treasure Caskets.

        • Affected Areas:

Ranguemont Pass / Bostaunieux Oubliette / Toraimarai Canal / Zeruhn Mines / King Ranperre's Tomb / Dangruf Wadi / Inner Horutoto Ruins / Ordelle's Caves / Outer Horutoto Ruins / The Eldieme Necropolis / Gusgen Mines / Crawlers' Nest / Maze of Shakhrami / Garlaige Citadel / Fei'Yin

      * Similar adjustments are planned for future version updates.

    to follow up, sort of

maybe some of u will find this useful. I made a separate list for unique mob models as part of my work on final fantasy wiki.. it makes finding a particular mob / genus a lot easier..

the lists contain every single variation of mob which have a family (except fomor cos they use character models), and also all objects, npcs, whatever that you can fight with or against, as long as they're unique models (once gain, not using character models)

just gotta add this to your NPC index list

    Beasts
    Lizards
    Vermin
    Plantoid
    Aquan
    Amorphs
    Birds
    Undead
    Arcana
    Dragons
    Demons
    Elementals
    Empty
    Lumorian
    Automata
    Archaic
    Voragean
    Beastmen
    BeastMachinery, Beastmen Machinery
    Simulacra
    Structures, Structures & Objects
    Avatars, Summonable Avatars
    Unique, Unique Bosses & NPCs

and unzip these files into the same folder holding those lists...

No idea if its possible to tweak AV to create a 2nd directory thats collapsible, cos this could serve as a useful alternative if u're looking for specific mob types.

point to note, I didn't make a Beastmen list cos i was lazy

omg u're genius. i would never have thought to sort by creation date to look for the MRs..

..and with MR found, we effectively have the entire FFXI mob directory listed.
only exceptions are the armor on/off coeurl/lynx and the WotG beastmen who use a similar system, causing us to have a lot of headless mobs lol..

Beginning to wonder if its a good idea to create a new list sorted based on Bestiary.

I made a master list for mob type for myself (for bestiary/mob accounting purposes) and i'm beginning to see merit in sorting mobs by Family instead of expansion, especially since most of them appear in more than 1 place now...

im pretty sure the guy who voiced Zack did Laguna. Not bad, cos he's a good VA, just that its a little on the young side. Then again, I think the Laguna being portrayed is young galbadian soldier time Laguna, not Esthar president. Kinda sad tho, his son sounds way more manly/old.

I like Prishe a lot more than Tifa.. she feels a lot more like a brawler.. and I suppose every fighting game needs a few good ones. Interesting how both the ones in Dissidia turn out to be girls.. The closest thing to it in DFF was Jecht, and he was more like a guy version of chun li
