I must have been climatized through years of anime to such thinking because Inception really didn't strike me as a hard to understand film.

I agree, I was actually able to keep up with the movie the whole time, I thought it was going to have an overly complex plot, but I was impressed on how simplestic they kept it at the same time.

It's just classic Brain-in-a-vat plot mechanics. Once you've been exposed to the concept its hard to be too beguiled by it.

Great movie, though. Definitely one of my must-buy blu-rays.
