I haven't been on since March of MMVIII, and I believe the linkshells in whose ranks I was a member have dissipated. The server seems pretty bare, and I'm curious as to whether or not there are any North American linkshells are doing any member recruiting. Suffice to say, a three year absence has left me a bit cloudy, so I would probably need some resituating. I have Monk and Paladin at seventy-five, unfortunately I'm inclined to believe their gear is outdated. Since I've only recently come back to the game today, I'm still in the process of regaining my bearings. If anyone from the Senkei linkshell of Fairy wound up on Sylph, don't hesitate to get in touch with me either via these forums or in the game itself.
Late to the thread, but Sylph is very much alive. I don't know so much about the fairy shells, since I didn't play much after I transferred to Fairy, but Sylph has a healthy population. I don't have to wait for long until I get an Aby party, nor do I really have to wait much to get anything done. -

If they made it FFXI-2, I'd come back. Obviously accounting for a complete rehaul of the game to make it look and feel like XI. Other than that? Don't think I'll even give 2.0 a glance. -

The only reason WoW endgame vets stick around is the same reason us FFXI vets stick around, to keep in contact with those who they have built a friendship with over the years playing together.
And this is why I came back to XI and have had a great time since. -

Either way, I predict that FFXIII-2 will fail - miserably - and SE will fold leaving WB Games free to pick up Eidos so that it and Rocksteady can keep cranking out awesome DC Comics games. And the Final Fantasy name? It can either die in a fire or get picked up by some one else who knows what the fuck they're doing.
I didn't really notice the linearity of X until I thought back on it. I mean, they've all been linear in terms of story progression, for obvious reasons. However, X was the first FF that was basically on-the-rails and you couldn't just freely roam about. That's the only reason I can think of when it comes to why they'd remake X before other obvious choices. I didn't understand the appeal of X. I liked it, and I liked/tolerated X-2, due to absolutely loving the battle system. However, X just seemed like another title to me, it didn't really seem groundbreaking, unless we're talking graphics for the time. I don't know. -
