List of Weapon Skills and Job Skill
The Job System
When you start off the game you must choose a main job. You can go to your Mog House any time and change it if you want to. But once you complete the support job quest, you may then start to choose a support job to complement your main job. Your characters have no level of their own. All stats, abilities, spells and even equipment prerequisites are linked to your job.
Job Levels
Levels are gained by acquiring experience points (EXP). As your levels get higher, the amount of EXP needed for the next level becomes higher that the last. The amount of EXP gained from an enemy depends on the difference between your Main Job's level and the enemy's level. For example, if your level is 5 and your enemy's level is 5, then you'll receive 50 EXP. When you are level 15 and your enemy is 15 you will again receive 50 EXP. This difference is that 50 EXP fills up less percent of your EXP bar than it did at level five. Your main job is naturally represented in full, but your support job can only be represented up to a level half that of your main job. Although you can't lose levels as a result of switching, you can lose them from dying too much. When your character dies, 10% of the experience needed to max out the current level is lost. For example, if 600 EXP is needed for the entire level, you lose 60 EXP. If 1000 EXP are needed for the entire level, you lose 100 EXP. If you die enough times or die recently after reaching a level, you're Level will go down, but it's shouldn't take you too long to get it back (unless you dies so many times that you take yourself back to the beginning of the last level). Your support job does not gain any EXP while it is the support job, so to have a support job worth equipping you'll want to switch around at your Mog House quite often.
Job Abilities and Qualities
As a Job rises, certain abilities can be gained. Regular Abilities are Battle commands that temporarily cause a status change of some kind or perform a special job action. These abilities are only active for a short time then a certain amount of time must pass before it can be used again. Then there are also Job Qualities. These Qualities are active all the time and just cause a permanent aspect. Both Abilities and Qualities can cross over from the support job as long as the necessary level is met. There is one exception to this. The level one Abilities are dubbed the "Super Abilities" and can only be used from the main Job. They do not cross over form your support.
Job Stats
Everyone has stats that act as factors in many actions they take in the game:
- HP (Hit Points) - Affects how much damage you can take from an enemy.
- MP (Mana Points) - Affects how much magic you can cast.
- STR (Strength) - Affects how much damage your physical attacks cause.
- DEX (Dexterity) - Affects your chances of landing a physical attack and your chance of inflicting/receiving a critical hit.
- VIT (Vitality) - Affects your defense against physical attacks.
- AGI (Agility) - Affects your chances of dodging a physical attack from an enemy and is also related to your long range attack accuracy.
- INT (Intelligence) - Affects Black Magic power.
- MND (Mind) - Affects White Magic power, determines how well you resist abnormal status and also determines your magic defense.
- CHR (Charisma) - Affects the success rate on charisma related skills.
*Note that CHR doesn't effect prices in shops, Fame does.
*Fame can be raised by completing quests.
*Stats from your secondary job are added to the stats of your main job.
Dying
Although you can't lose levels as a result of switching, you can lose them from dying too much. When your character dies, 10% of the experience needed to max out the current level is lost. For example, if 1000 EXP is needed for the entire level, you lose 100 EXP. If 5000 EXP is needed for the entire level, you lose 500 EXP. If you die enough times or die recently after reaching a level, your Level will go down, but it shouldn't take you too long to get it back (unless you die so many times that you take yourself back to the beginning of the last level).
